Hi! I’m Taiyou.

I'm from the United States and based in Seoul now. This site is where that move and that shift in how I shoot come together.

Half of what I write about is photography: cameras I actually use, film stocks I’ve actually shot, and honest real world breakdowns I wish I'd had when I was starting out.

The other half is Seoul's cafe scene, because good coffee and a slow afternoon are basically a required part of this hobby. :)

These days I shoot mostly film, medium format and 35mm both. But I still carry a point and shoot for the days I don't want to think about it. For now, my digital bodies are back home in the United States; they didn't make the cut when I packed for Seoul.

I write what I'd want to read before spending my own money or wasting rolls of film. No pretending every camera, lens or film stock is great. If something has a flaw, I'll say so.
