Avek Cheri | Itaewon | Seoul Cafe Reviews

Avek Cheri. A cafe that’s unmistakably trendy and aesthetic driven. Upon returning to Seoul, I knew I had to revisit this cafe.

Avek Cheri Plate After A Yummy Meal With a Fork And Knife

A delicious meal is like chillin’ and havin’ a good time

Between the aesthetic of the cafe and the strangely nostalgic feeling I had when realizing I could come back here whenever I want I just couldn’t resist making this my first stop after moving into my new apartment in South Korea.

Today’s set of food, Sausage Pizza Hot Dog, Salt Bread and their signature drink

① Sausage Pizza Hot Dog

This time we started with the Sausage Pizza Hot Dog. When choosing what to eat, I wanted something savory to go with my salt bread drink. I landed on the hot dog & was unassuming of it, but upon cutting into it I was greeted by various other toppings: onion, corn, ketchup — these & more were certainly more than the plain hot dog with ketchup that I expected. Yum :) It’s later in the day so I assume it’s been there for a bit leading to the food tasting a little less than fresh.

Detail shot of the Sausage Pizza Hot Dog

Let’s get a good look into the Sausage Pizza Hot Dog

Score:

8/10 I would have loved for this to have been fresh to see if it could have given it a bump closer towards 10.

Unrelated, but I’m surprised this place is even more popular than 2 months ago :0 There’s more merch too!

Getting a seat inside took about half an hour of waiting and hoping that other people wouldn’t snatch the table before me while I sat outside. This isn’t how it was in 2025 but between the aesthetic, design and trendiness of the cafe, it’s not really that surprising.

② Salt bread

was nice & flaky, while being soft & buttery on the inside. This is the dish they’re most proud of, but it’s just fine. I did get the last one though — maybe it’s better fresher?

…!

As I’m continuing to eat it, I’m finding that the other side has more flavor, is softer and just more enjoyable overall… If the whole salt bread had tasted like this, it would be scoring way more points. That’s unfortunate. :(

Score:

5/10, had the makings of greatness in the second half but fumbled with inconsistency and the first half being less delicious.

③ The Signature Drink, Savory Cream Coffee

Unsurprisingly, the Savory Cream Coffee is good! I’m enjoying the cream and powder at the top in particular. They’re not too sweet & the powder is nice & playful! The coffee’s very light & almost feels like it’s more milk than coffee…?

While I personally don’t mind it since I’m fond of lattes that are more milk than coffee (what kind of a cafe-goer am I…), I don’t think the average coffee fan would agree with that.

Score:

5/10

Final Thoughts:

Despite the harshness on the salt bread and signature drink, I enjoyed myself!

Maybe I have a particularly soft spot for this spot since I’m oddly nostalgic for it, or because I adore the aesthetic and interior but I’ll probably be back.

Would I recommend this spot? Well, yes but mainly if you’re not seeking exclusively the best food and drinks money can buy. I think part of the fun of this cafe is the location itself.

Gallery:

There are no photos of the upstairs area since it was packed and the chance of me getting a seat up there may as well have been 0. Sorry!

It has a view of the bread making area along with some tables on rising steps up against the wall leading 3 windows with a view down onto the main road. :) Use your imagination or wait for me to publish the prequel to this review where I detail my first impressions of Avek Cheri.
