Aoi Tori | Hongdae | Seoul Cafe Review
I noticed this cafe catching light in the morning sun with a Japanese logo and name when walking back from a cafe I was checking out in Hongdae. Upon entering Aoi Tori it definitely felt like it was an authentic Japanese Bakery from the smell and looks of the pastries! (From the perspective of someone who visits Japan a few times a year. Not that I’m an expert, lol.)
I got here 1 hour after opening & some breads were already out of stock but I don’t know if they had sold out or if they were yet to be made as they were still making & packing more bread.
I got the pepperoni pizza bread. It’s a little cold unfortunately but not too greasy. It was still enjoyable. ^^
Score:
7/10 maybe it’d be higher if the food had been warmer.
The sweet potato bun was good. Not too sweet, nice texture that’s chewy but not too much. The chunks inside add to the variety of texture. Wish there were more sweet potato chunks though.
Score:
7/10
Additional thoughts:
It was cool to see them bringing in fresh eggs, it shows in the food that the ingredients were fresh.
I also got a tea or an ade or something but it was really unremarkable so I didn’t take any notes on it. Consider their coffee, that may be a bit more interesting.
Upon reading deeper into this cafe later on, I found out it’s also a bar in the evening? That may be an interesting thing to visit. :-)
