Malic Coffee | Hongae | Seoul Cafe Review
I’d been eyeballing this cafe since day one of arriving to Seoul because of the vintage interior that you can catch glimpses of through the window! The way it catches light in the morning is lovely and the reviews online looked really promising.
Foods Tried:
Nutty Cream Latte (iced) & scone.

I’ve been eyeballing this cafe since day one of arriving to Hongdae because of the vintage interior! The way it catches light in the morning is lovely.
Nutty Cream Latte
Let’s start with the Nutty Cream Latte. Initially, I wanted the milky oolong tea but got coffee instead since this cafe is named after coffee. The nutty cream is extremely thick at the top where the cream is. With crunchy nut in the sweet cream, it’s a fun topping & kind of feels like candy. The coffee is also good, not too bitter & smooth which is nice. Not acidic, in my opinion. Fun drink, I really enjoyed the cream.
Score:
8/10, the drink is carried by the cream, haha. I’d like to try a blend next time and not a latte where the main draw ended up being the cream.
Scone
The scone was nothing to die for. The crust was a little too hard but the inside was nice, soft & had a sort of buttery texture. The jam was nice but the butter felt redundant.
Score:
5/10
Final Thoughts:
The latte was definitely the highlight of the visit! While the scone was fine and apparently made in house, I think that the unique drink with fun flavors and texture is definitely what I would come back for again. I’m also interested in the other coffees as well with many of them having flavors and descriptions that seemed fun to try even if I’m not quite the coffee-head.
I also really appreciated that the staff at the desk spoke English which made my life easier. :)
(I ended up getting the milky oolong on my way out. It did not compete with the latte, haha)
